Inspired by the book Seeing Home: The Ed Lucas Story, this website is a forum for posts and comments that will, hopefully, motivate those that visit to share their blessings and gifts.
Ed Lucas was fortunate to be surrounded by people that encouraged him, strengthened his faith, and helped him to overcome life’s greatest obstacles. Our goal is do the same for others with this site.
In addition to information about the book Seeing Home, we will be posting news and reviews as Ed travels the world telling people his remarkable and uplifting story.
On our Blog Page, you will find posts related to all sorts of inspirational matters, written by Ed, his son and co-author Christopher, and many guest bloggers.
Some of the topics covered each week will be:
These posts will feature profiles of and interviews with Hall of Famers from all walks of life. Yes, there are world famous Hall of Famers, but we will often highlight some that are largely unheralded. The main criteria will not be what they accomplished to get them into their respective Hall of Fame, but how they carry themselves, their philanthropic acts, and how they inspire others by living a true hall of Fame life.
Home Is Where The Heart Is
There are thousands of negative stories on the news and online every day. Our aim is to help highlight the positive ones that sometimes get pushed aside because they aren’t as juicy or full of gossip and scandal worthy material as the others. You can’t escape the bad news completely, but we hope to be a brief haven from it as we bring you stories that will warm your heart and remind you that the light will always conquer the darkness.
The Power of Writing Letters
Shortly after the accident that blinded him, Ed’s mother wrote letters to his heroes from the world of sports and entertainment, in an effort to cheer him up. When they replied, that set Ed on a course that would change his life, teaching him the value of writing letters. It’s become a lost art these days, but we still firmly believe that personal letters are still the most effective way to make a connection with someone you admire. It’s a daily habit that Ed’s son, Christopher, continues. In each letter that he sends, Christopher asks for insight and advice from his correspondents. We will post some of the more inspiring ones on here.
Hero of the Week
This category is exactly what it sounds like. Each week, we will highlight a hero (or heroes) who goes above and beyond to make life special for others, either directly or by inspiration. Again, these are stories you sometimes don’t hear on the news. It will definitely put a smile on your face.
As I See It
Based on his long running sports column, this section of the blog will be the personal forum for Ed Lucas to share his thoughts and musings on life and the world around us. It won’t be limited to sports, lots of topics will be covered. Ed looks forward to lively discussions with the readers of the blog.
From the Desk of Christopher Lucas
From time to time, Ed’s youngest son, Christopher (the co-author of Seeing Home) will share his thoughts. Just as his father covers sports, Christopher has been involved in the entertainment field for over twenty five years, so his columns will have more of a pop culture feel.
