They have both been blessed by God with talent and ability and the opportunity to rise to the height of their profession.
Evans, in his role of Captain America, and Pratt, as Star Lord, are the stars of two of the biggest movies of all time, “The Avengers” and “Guardians of The Galaxy”, both from Disney/Marvel. Both films have combined to amass world wide box office totals north of a billion dollars.
Pratt and Evans are also close friends.
Recently, the two made a very interesting wager.
Chris Evans is a big fan of the New England Patriots. Chris Pratt loves the Seattle Seahawks. When the two teams won their respective NFL league championships to advance to Super Bowl XLIX, Pratt and Evans couldn’t resist the opportunity to have some good-natured fun and use their celebrity status to help others in the process.
The two made a bet on the game, which they attended in person together, but it wasn’t for money (or even nachos.) They each pledged to visit a charity of the winner’s choice after the game was over.
The Patriots defeated the Seahawks 28-24, so Chris Pratt made good on the bet a few days later.
He flew to Boston to visit a children’s cancer hospital called Christopher’s Haven, which is one that Evans supports. Evans actually joined Pratt on the trip.
Just having him show up would have been delightful for the kids, but Chris Pratt took it up a notch. He arrived dressed in his actual Star Lord costume from Guardians of the Galaxy. He also had boxes full of Marvel toys, including – yes – some Captain America dolls. The children loved it.
The two actors stayed at Christopher’s Haven for hours, spending quality time with each child. Evans humorously rubbed the salt in even more by making Pratt wear a Tom Brady jersey. Pratt said it was the best bet he ever lost.
Though Chris Evans won the wager, he agreed to visit the Seattle Children’s hospital anyway, as soon as his busy schedule permits. Pratt will join him on that trip, too.
The best part is that the two big screen superheroes traded fund-raising messages on Twitter, encouraging their fans to make donations to Christopher’s Haven and the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Together, they raised almost $30,000.
Thank you Chris Pratt and Chris Evans for showing that you don’t need super powers to make a super difference in the world.
